Tools for Humanity is excited to introduce its new mobile device, the Orb Mini. This ingenious device cannot be easily tricked by humans posing as AI agents. The device, which looks like a giant smartphone, is a portable version of the company’s larger Orb devices. The small size — about 1/8th the size of the regular Orb — means it’ll be debuting Orb Mini on a night full of surprises!

The Orb Mini scans users’ irises to ensure they are not bots and gives them a unique identifier on the blockchain if successful. This initiative is just the beginning of the World project, originally called Worldcoin, which was co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. World is interested in creating solutions for the growing challenge of separating people from AI actors online.

Much of the Orb Mini’s design credit goes to Thomas Meyerhoff, a former designer at Apple and Meyerhoff Design. Tools for Humanity hopes to eventually open physical storefronts to give consumers direct access to its Orbs, including the new Mini. To continue growing the World project within the U.S. market, the announcement provides additional professional development resources for teachers.

World’s argument rests largely on the idea that identifying humans versus AI online will soon be impossible. The Orb Mini is just one tool in the World ecosystem that helps to solve this challenge. By simply scanning users’ eyeballs, the device both confirms users are human while creating their own unique identifier on the blockchain.

The “At Last” event in San Francisco will provide an official launch for the Orb Mini. Attendees will have an exclusive first look at the device and learn more about its amazing capabilities. The company’s intent to open up physical storefronts shows a dedication to not only product accessibility, but consumer engagement as well. This launch is a huge step forward for Tools for Humanity. In short, it seeks to grow the World project stateside.
